Fasting.

Have you ever fasted anything? If so, what was it? Was it for God or just because? This past Sunday at church we talked about fasting and fasting for the Lord. Everyone in my class decided on one thing to 'fast' for a week. Some things mentioned were a favorite t.v. show, sweet tea, pizza, soft drinks, etc. I chose to 'fast".....

 CHOCOLATE.

This means I can't enjoy the following for 7 days!!

I figured I would share some scripture with you on fasting that we read today. Take a moment to read these

Matthew 6:16-18
16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Isaiah 58

1 “Shout it aloud, do not hold back.
Raise your voice like a trumpet.
Declare to my people their rebellion
and to the descendants of Jacob their sins.

2 For day after day they seek me out;
they seem eager to know my ways,
as if they were a nation that does what is right
and has not forsaken the commands of its God.
They ask me for just decisions
and seem eager for God to come near them.

3 ‘Why have we fasted,’ they say,
‘and you have not seen it?
Why have we humbled ourselves,
and you have not noticed?’
“Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please
and exploit all your workers.

4 Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife,
and in striking each other with wicked fists.
You cannot fast as you do today
and expect your voice to be heard on high.

5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen,
only a day for people to humble themselves?
Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed
and for lying in sackcloth and ashes?
Is that what you call a fast,
a day acceptable to the LORD?

6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?

7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness[a] will go before you,
and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.

9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
"If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk,

10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.

11 The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.

12 Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins
and will raise up the age-old foundations;
you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls,
Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.

13 “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath
and from doing as you please on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a delight
and the LORD’s holy day honorable,
and if you honor it by not going your own way
and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,

14 then you will find your joy in the LORD,
and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land
and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.”
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.

71 Years Worth Celebrating!

Today is my Me-Maw's 71st birthday! Happy Birthday Me-Maw! Yesterday Momma and I went to my grandparents house to "decorate" for her birthday lunch. My uncle grilled some YUMMY ribeye steaks and we also had baked potatoes, bread, and salad. Here's some pics from yesterday, starting with this FABULOUS pic of my Momma and Me-Maw!

So excited to see us as they came in from church! When they walked in, dinner was already cooked and ready to be eaten :)
Here I am putting up some streamers!!! Me-Maw was so shocked and loved everything! Her favorite decorations were the balloons tied on the mailbox!

You've got to have some monogram on the presents! I just used my cricut machine to cut out her monogram on cardstock. I used photo splits to attach them to the wrapping paper!
How "Dog-Gone" cute is this doggy planter?!?!
Baked Potato Bar

My uncle Chad is an AWESOME grill-master! We always enjoy family get togethers because he always grills something good! His seasoning techniques are wonderfully, we never have to use a steak sauce!

Momma made her famous Butter-Pecan Cake for Me-Maw. It is HEAVENLY and O-SO-FABULOUS!

A soft and VERY comfy lavender waffle-weave robe with off-white monogram!

My Me-Maw has loved the mirrored car tag I ordered off on Etsy.com ever since I bought mine, so I just knew she had to have a monogrammed one too! It matches her car so well! She was so excited to get some monogrammed things :)
A fun afternoon was had by all and we had a great time celebrating Me-Maw's 71st Birthday!
Kyle and Rebecca, we missed ya'll and we can't wait to see you again in October!!

Have A GREAT week!

Chloe Elizabeth

Guess what? I bought my new camera!! Chloe has been my little model so I can try out all these different effects. Here's a few pics I've taken with my new Canon Rebel T3. I am an awful mommy and didn't put a bow in her hair or even brush her hair for this pics :( I just got the camera out of the box and started snappin'!

Chloe just loves when I just put on some lotion...yummy!

Momma recently bought this handsome new rooster for the kitchen area!

I have a busy, yet relaxing weekend planned. I am off to take Chloe to the vet in the morning for her check-up shots. She isn't too thrilled about them, but I promised her a Wendy's cheesebuger patty if she's good :)

"Ketchup" Game.

Like the post title? In case your wondering, this has nothing to do with mustard's best friend. I have been quite distant from blogging for awhile because things have been so busy with me lately. Am I complaining? Heck to the NO! I love being a busy little beaver! I love making plans and having a plan. I love knowing that I have somewhere to be and things to do with the people I love and care about. I thought I would let ya'll CATCH-UP on what's being going on with me for the past few weeks! Also, it would help me if I jotted it down so I could remember for myself!

*I have attended 3 weddings in 3 weeks and been on NUMEROUS lunch and dinner dates with friends and family. I have neglected to take pictures because I have yet to buy my new camera. Speaking of the new camera, my momma loves me SO much that she gave me some good ol' green moo-lah for the Canon Rebel XSI for my birthday. Well, I can't find it ANYWHERE!! Only the model before, the XS. I have been everywhere the Canon people said they sell it. I wondered why I couldn't buy the XSI on the Canon website, but I could the XS...well, I put my big-girl panties on and sent a little e-mail on how determined I was to FIND this camera. They responded fairly quickly, I give them good stars for that, but the news wasn't what I wanted to hear. The Canon Rebel XSI is NOT MANUFACTURED anymore...insert HUGE sad face here. If I find one, it will be one of the last ones left. Imagine how upset I was to hear this...I MEAN IF YOUR GOING TO ADVERTISE THE CAMERA ON YOUR WEBSITE AND NOT MANUFACTURE IT ANYMORE....THEN TAKE IT OFF THE WEBSITE OR SOMETHING!!! Whew! Thanks for the vent :) They did however tell me that they have come out with a new model to replace the XSI...it is the Canon EOS Rebel T3 for $599 OR T3I for $899.

Hopefully I will have my new camera next week and I will be able to use this super fabulous camera strap my mommy got me from HERE!

If you are looking for a camera strap please visit Cotton Candy by Natalie on Etsy!

Wow o Wow! I got off topic! I was talking about lunch dates and dinner dates. Here they are, again no pics, see above for reasoning :)

1. Lunch Date at Red Elephant with a high school friend Andrew. Andrew is such a dear friend to me and recently proposed to his girlfriend Faith! I am beyond thrilled for the two of them and the journey they are about to begin together! They both met at college in Kentucky and the rest is history! Andrew is going to be a preacher-man, he will make a great one! As a little "engagement" type gift, I took Andrew this gift.

2. My Aunt Rhonda Nonnie came into town to visit with us this week and we had such a great time! When my Aunt Nonnie, Momma, and I get together, we sure know how to have fun! We did some shopping, lots of talking, and went and ate at Longhorn Steakhouse. For your 411, Longhorn has very good Berry Sangrias! Mom enjoyed her Pomegranate Margarita too!

3. Momma surprised me one day and took me out to eat for lunch! I just love surprises!

4. My bff Rebekah and I have decided that once twice a week it is GIRLS NIGHT! Lots of girl talk, recalling old memories, chips and salsa, and some Strawberry Daiquiris! It sure is nice to know that I have that friend I can tell everything to! Do you have a friend like that?

THEN
Rebekah is on the top row in white and I am below her in white. We were at a church tea party :)

NOW

5. Momma and I went on a dinner date with my friend Marc who was passing through down to the beach to Spring Break! It was nice catching up with him! Mom and Marc just love each other! We enjoyed some La Parilla mexican food, I just love mexican food!
6. A VERY sweet and special man came throught the bank drive-up to see me this past week! A sweet man who used to come see us at Hissyfits when I worked there came to see me!!! I miss seeing his smiling face and getting his warm hugs! I was SO excited he stopped by to see me, he made my entire week! He even brought gave me a piece of candy like he always does :)
*Thanks to a weekly favorite magazine introduced to me by my gal Ashley who works with me at the bank, I now have a secret obsession every week to read the following...

Woman's World has lots of interesting things in it! For instance, Did you know cinnamon helps get rid of belly fat?? Who knew? So, now I take Cinnamon pills! I have always been such a sweet eater, but by taking these cinnamon pills with a meal it helps me not crave sweets as much, actually, I haven't craved one in a long while! I love it because I LOVE food and I get to eat what I want, I recommend it! This is something to do if you wnat to lose inches of your belly! Try it out!

Just take 500mg at breakfast, 1000mg at lunch, and 500mg at dinner! It's only like $6 for 100 ct. bottle at CVS!

I'm off to eat some lunch, clean out the car, go grocery shopping, etc. Have a FABULOUS rest of the weekend and a GREAT week! Hopefully, I won't get in the "non-blogging zone" again!!

Birthday Weekend Recap!

I figured I would do a birthday recap about this past weekend!

Here's a pic of my grandparents and I before we went out to eat at Outback.
We then came home and ate some cake!

The Saturday night before by birthday I attended a wedding for my friend Anne-Marie and her husband Ryan. The reception was held at a new downtown location in Dothan called The Grand. If you live in the area and need an event venue...check this place out!!! It's just gorgeous!

After the reception, I met up with some friends to ring in the 21st birthday at midnight!

I hope ya'll have a safe and warm weekend!

Thank You

Thank you all  SO MUCH for praying for the Shepherd/Pugh families. I just know that God is hearing each and every one of them! We may never know why these things happen, but we have to trust in him and know that everything happens for a reason and God wanted Brittany and Shep with him in heaven. The visitation is on Thursday and Friday is the funeral for Brittany and her baby boy Shep. Thanks again and please continue to keep the families in your prayers.

Prayers Please

The town I live in is going to bed tonight with heavy aching hearts. A tragic car accident happened early this evening and killed 24 year old Brittany Pugh and her 13 month old son Shep Pugh. Brittany was the BEST mommy to her son, a loving and caring wife to her husband, a friend to many, a cheerleader for the community, and a teacher who touched the lives of many elementary children. My heart is aching for this woman who had such a HUGE impact on our community. Brittany always had a smile on her face and her precious baby boy Shep had her sweet smile too! Please pray for her family and her dear husband. I can not imagine the pain he is going through. I saw Brittany just last weekend at a wedding and am in total shock. Why does God let tragic events happen to an amazing young mother and her precious child? Why at EXACTLY 5:15 did that lady swerve into the Brittany's lane and have a head-on collision with her? Why? We may never know this, but we know that God has a plan and reason for everything.

Please stop right now and pray for the Shepard/Pugh family. Thank You

Happy 21st Birthday To Me!!

Today was my 21st Birthday!

*Look at this FABULOUS cake my momma had made for me!! Yes, they spelled my name wrong on the "hankie" but I will laugh about it through the years :) Momma didn't realize it until she brought it home, she overlooked it when she picked it up...she picked it up after working a 12hour night shift and then once she got home the bakery was about to close and we wouldnt be able to get another "hankie". Momma was pretty mad about it, but it's not the end of the world, and it was still a cute cake :)*

I have had such a great birthday weekend! Thanks to all my friends and family for making me feel so special :)

More pics to come soon!! Have a FABULOUS week!
